Vintage Steele: Cream Turtleneck, Crimson Slacks

Many television shows set in California eventually take advantage of the state's grape-growing industry and send their characters to a winery. In "Vintage Steele" (Season 1, Episode 19 of "Remington Steele"), Laura and Remington solve a mystery among vats of Napa Valley's ambrosia.

Hello! This is Laura Holt's Closet and today we drink deep from the cup of timeless fashion.

"Vintage Steele" gets the show out in the air, away from Laura's detective agency. Because of episodes like this, with interesting location shoots, the audience never feels claustrophobic or restless watching this program.

So what does Laura wear in "Vintage Steele?" Well, we've already seen her fabulous, cream-colored suit from Act 1. We are now in Act 2. Just before the commercial break, our heroine lost a dead body that was concealed in a wine barrel. She now must hunt for clues: Who is the dead man? Where is the corpse? Motives for murder, etc.

The costume designer has chosen to continue the cream theme from the first act by proffering an off-white, turtleneck sweater. It is paired with crimson slacks and matching belt.

Here is how to recreate Laura's comfy-cozy, fall ensemble.

That's right. Laura wears red and white... to a winery.

Costume director Paula Giokaris has a somewhat literal design vision for the character sometimes. It looks comfortable, though.

What will Laura wear next?
