Steele's Gold: Black Suit

The writers make use of the fact that the show is set in California. In "Steele's Gold" (Season 1, Episode 20 of "Remington Steele"), they send off our main characters to find buried treasure from the gold rush era. This means our dainty detective will wear clothes for the city and the desert.

In any given episode in the first season of the show when Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) rides around L.A. conducting informational interviews for clues, she's usually in a suit. This episode is no exception.

The Outfit 

Laura's first outfit in "Steele's Gold" is a simple three-button, black suit with notched lapel. The jacket nips in at the waist and the hemline falls just below, accentuating the hips. The three-quarter sleeve is perfect for displaying bracelets.

It's a beautiful suit, but a bit severe when standing next to others who are in lighter neutrals and pastels. Here is how we recreate the look.
