Now, in the second act, Laura runs around in a bull fighter's arena, pretends to be a honeymooner and discusses her passionate relationship with Remington. What is she wearing? Why, red, of course. (Or is this more scarlet rose?)
The Outfit
Usually Laura's look is fairly timeless, then sometimes she goes for the latest trend. The fluttery red silk designer blouse and voluminous black pants she wears this episode are perfectly '80s fashion.
Laura wears sensible espadrilles (as she does with another outfit in this episode). Espadrilles are of Spanish and French origin. As Europeans arrived in the Western Hemisphere, they brought with them, and imported, these comfortable rope-soled shoes. The costumers are clearly nodding toward a bit of the history of the region.
Also, these shoes might have been chosen because the actress must run, skip, hop and do everything in camera, on location. (They are not as considerate of her feet in other episodes.)
No doubt Laura keeps cool in the light fabrics. But for today, let's put a twist on her outfit. Let's keep the volume in only one place -the torso- instead of over the entire body, with an off-the-shoulder peasant blouse paired with shorts.
Here's how to recreate the look:
1.Peasant blouse by Yves Saint Laurent |2. Dark shorts by Jones New York |3. ZiGiny's Closed-Toe Espadrille Slip-On |4. An original pattern for pants and top from Saint Tropez-West by Carole Little
