Hello! This is Laura Holt's Closet and today we're diving right into fashion.
The Outfit
The costume designer and the writers have a bit of fun at Laura's expense when she patronizes this bar. When Remington questions whether going among rough and tumble guys is wise, Laura counters, "I'm a private detective; it's my job to fit in!"
Cut to Laura in an expensive trench coat and floppy fedora mincing into a grungy barroom. The regulars are in faded shirts and jeans which makes Laura look completely out of place. She's read too many Dashiell Hammett novels.
Remington tags along in a fetching, black pea coat with red turtleneck and is also overdressed. This is the first joke of the show that we recall being made almost exclusively with costumes!
It might be a source of humor in the show, but it's still a great dramatic look. Here is how we can recreate it.
1. London Fog trench coat, Heritage Style | 2. Women's Floppy Fedora by The San Diego Hat Company | 3. Deerskin gloves by etsy shop Maejean VINTAGE | 4. lighter brown scarf by etsy shop Foulard Fantastique
We also like to imagine that Laura would skulk around in a Scottevest brand travel trench with hidden pockets.
